Carved Tasmanian blackwood swallow sculpture, wall-mounted design with minimalist mid-century modern styling, giving the essence of flight. Price is for a single bird.
Carved Wooden Swallow Sculpture
This wall-mounted swallow sculpture captures the free-flowing movement of a bird in flight. Carved from Tasmanian blackwood, it follows the same minimalist, mid-century modern design language found across Bearwood Workshop’s collection.
Tasmanian blackwood is valued for its warm tones and unique grain. Each swallow is carved, making no two pieces exactly alike. Small differences in timber, form, and finish give each bird its own character. The surface is finished with oil to highlight the natural depth of the wood while protecting it for long-term display.
Mounted directly onto the wall via a rod, the swallow appears to hover just above the surface, giving the sculpture a sense of lightness and flight. Installation is simple: drill a hole into the wall, then fit the rod securely into place.
This design works well on its own, but truly comes alive in a group of two or three. Arranged together, the swallows create a gentle rhythm across the wall, echoing the movement of birds in the open air.

Swallows are known worldwide as symbols of freedom and return. These small birds migrate vast distances each year, often travelling thousands of kilometres between their breeding and wintering grounds. Their fast, agile flight patterns make them a joy to watch and a reminder of seasonal change and endurance. This sculpture is a quiet nod to their remarkable journeys.
