Carved Wooden Bird Sculptures
Welcome to Bearwood Workshop, where every carved wooden bird sculpture begins with reclaimed timber. Old beams, railway sleepers, and forgotten offcuts are given new life as elegant, minimalist pieces of art. By using recycled wood, each sculpture keeps its carbon footprint small while carrying a unique story in its grain.
The birds you’ll find here aren’t literal replicas—they’re mid-century modern inspired interpretations, pared back to clean lines and flowing shapes. Each piece is designed to capture the essence of the bird it represents, from a falcon diving in flight to a kiwi quietly perched. They’re subtle, timeless, and designed to fit beautifully into any style of home decor.
No two sculptures are exactly alike. The rich textures of Tasmanian blackwood, recycled gum, or totara give every piece its own character. Mounted on brass rods, rustic stone, or reclaimed beams, they become unique home sculptures—both simple and striking.
Sustainability is at the heart of the workshop. By working with recycled timber, these sculptures honour the natural world without taking more from it. They’re made to last, to be touched, admired, and passed on.
Whether you’re looking for a statement piece for your living room, a thoughtful gift, or simply something that makes you smile every time you walk past it, you’ll find it here. Quietly playful, beautifully made, and always a little unexpected.
Take a look around the shop and find the piece that speaks to you.
Here are some of my previous art pieces that are no longer being made or were one-off items. If any of these interest you please feel free to contact me as I take custom one-off orders.
